Our Services

Tidelawn Manor offers the following services and conveniences to each of its residents. 


Rooms:

  • 3 furnished private rooms located on the first floor.
  • 3 furnished semi-private rooms located on the first floor.
  • 5 furnished private rooms located on the second floor.
  • 1 furnished semi-private room located on the second floor.
  • Central air conditioning.
  • Cable TV and telephone connections available in each room, at an additional expense.

Daily Services:

  • Three nutritious meals and two snacks each day. Meals and snacks follow all dietary restrictions and personal preferences.
  • Housekeeping services daily.
  • Laundry services twice daily. Clothes are washed, dried, folded, and, if resident prefers, returned to their room.

Safety Features:

  • Emergency call bells in all resident rooms and restrooms, to be pulled in the case of a fall or another emergency.
  • Complete fire system, including local and monitored fire protection.
  • Complete sprinkler system.
  • Generator power, as an alternate source of power in emergency situations.
  • Door alarm system for additional security.

Medical Monitoring and Supervision:

  • Medical monitoring and supervision by the on-staff care aides.
  • Employees are certified to pass medications to residents by the State of Connecticut guidelines.
  • House call services from the podiatrist and other medical professionals .
  • Will arrange visiting nurse services for nursing care and physical, occupational, and speech therapy according to resident need and instruction by primary care physician.
  • Transportation services available for medical visits.

Employee Presence:

  • Care aides and staff members who promote the well-being, self-esteem, and independence of the residents.
  • 7am – 3pm shift includes:
    • One staff member in the kitchen preparing meals.
    • One care aide moving throughout the facility, tending to resident needs and housekeeping.
    • One Recreation Director.
    • One Transportation Manager.
    • The owner, Matthew Katz.
    • The owner/administrator, Amy Katz, at least four days per week.
  • 3pm – 11pm shift includes:
    • One staff member in the kitchen preparing meals from 4pm – 8:30pm.
    • One care aide moving throughout the facility, tending to resident needs.
    • Either one or both of the owners/administrators until 6pm or 8pm.
  • 11pm – 7am shift includes:
    • One care aide moving throughout the facility, tending to resident needs.

Recreation Services:

  • Recreational activities designed to meet individual capacities and resident requests, both on-site and off-site. Off-site recreation includes: lunch at local favorite restaurants, shopping, live performances, films, etc.
  • Musician visits facility on a weekly basis.
  • Yoga instructor visits facility on a weekly basis.
  • Pet therapy visits facility on a weekly basis.
  • Exercise program facilitated by on-staff Recreation Director or care aide. Program includes supervised walks to West Beach and throughout the West Beach neighborhood, which is a popular tourist destination in the summer season.
  • Non-denominational religious services provided each Sunday morning by St. John and St. Mark Roman Catholic Parishes. Other religious services may be arranged according to resident request.
  • Library services available. Includes a small selection of books in the facility, but also includes frequent visits to the local library.
  • Resident council meetings each month, at which the residents discuss issues they feel are important. Topics of discussion often include recreation preferences, special meal requests, etc.
